Another chance to say ‘No’ to the Arundel Bypass scheme
Let National Highways know your views on the A27 Arundel Bypass.
National Highways have started a formal consultation on their proposals for an 8km stretch of ‘motorway style’ dual carriageway south of the existing A27. The proposed ‘Grey route’ crosses the beautiful Arun River valley and is close to the South Downs National Park. The bypass would blight the historic and wildlife-rich landscape south of Arundel.

CPRE Sussex is a member of the South Downs Network, which has offered advice on the proposed bypass to West Sussex County Council. The Network has highlighted that in considering such schemes, it is important that existing government policies on climate change, land use and biodiversity are followed, so that the UK stands the best chance possible of avoiding the worst effects of the climate change and biodiversity crises. The Network advises that we need to bequeath to future generations the thriving environment that could result from the COP26 vision on these topics being fully realised.

The consultation is open until 8 March 2022.
