CPRE Sussex welcomes new Director
Paul Steedman, our new Director, has lived in Sussex for nearly 20 years and is passionate about our beautiful countryside.
Paul brings a wealth of policy and campaigning experience to our work, with past roles at consumer champion, the National Consumer Council; thinktank, the Food Ethics Council; and environmental campaigners, Friends of the Earth, where he was involved in campaigns on energy, air pollution and saving our bees.
As a former local councillor and planning committee member, Paul has experience of working closely with politicians at every level of government to secure a greener future for all of us.
Paul says: “It’s a pleasure and an honour to be taking up this role, at such a critical time. CPRE Sussex has just helped to see off Center Parcs’s ancient woodland-trashing plans, and to delay the A27 bypass, but our precious countryside and green spaces remain under threat as never before.
“There’s lots to do: from tackling climate change, to supporting a regenerative farming revolution; from opening up access to our countryside to many more people, to securing the affordable, brownfield-sited, locally-needed housing we do want – and stopping the landscape and wildlife-threatening developers that we don’t want.
“I’m thrilled to be working with such an amazing team of members, staff, volunteers, local residents and partner organisations to shape a greener future for Sussex.”
