Planning win in Horsham district for community groups backed by CPRE Sussex
Plans to build up to 800 homes between Southwater and Horsham have been refused by Horsham District Council. CPRE Sussex working alongside community groups and residents can make a real impact.
The outline application for the site by Worthing Road, which included a sports and leisure hub, was rejected by Horsham District Council’s planning committee on 7 May.
Councillors were concerned about the scale of the housing development proposed and the lack of infrastructure provision.
Reasons for rejecting the plans included the site being outside the built-up area boundary and not allocated for development in local plans. Site access was also an issue.
There were many objections from the local community including a petition from the Keep Denne Hill Green community group with over 3,500 signatures and 827 objections to the plans.
