Celebrating the immense value of trees

June 14-15 and 21-22

The Tree Festival 2025 raises awareness of the immense value of trees in the Living Coast – from Shoreham in the west to Newhaven in the east, and north to Hassocks and Steyning.

Running over two weekends in June, the Tree Festival 2025 offers a host of free events for everyone to enjoy – from talks and walks to poetry and music. There are also opportunities to get involved before the festival with special events and the ‘I love this tree because…’  photography competition.

The Tree Festival is supported by CPRE Sussex, the countryside charity, volunteers and local groups. The festival is sponsored by Connick Tree Care, Rampion Offshore Wind and The Living Coast.

Local resident and tree expert Alister Peters is your guide for this look at some of our city’s most special trees.

Join Peter May for a guided walk through Stanmer's Home Farm Orchard and Meadow Orchard.

Join Professor Dave Goulson’s Buzz Club for one of two family-friendly workshops exploring how we can help our pollinators .

A walk focused exclusively on elm trees. Your guide is national elm expert and researcher Peter Bourne.

There are over 250 varieties of lilac in Withdean Park and when they’re in bloom it’s one of the most beautiful places in Brighton. Join us for a walk around the park.

Meet the tree experts at The Meeting House in Brighton's Lanes for a lively afternoon of talks and discussion followed by a chance mingle and meet the panellists over afternoon tea

Royal Pavilion Gardens contains a wide variety of elms including some of the oldest in the city. Local tree enthusiast Pete Comley will talk about Brighton’s historical connection with elm trees.

Come and find out more about who lives in the trees at this family-friendly event. Discover the park’s history as we stroll through the woods at Stanmer Park and visit some of our veteran trees.
